Hi,

Tried to install the new version for VS 2013 (currently installed on my Windows 8.1 64 bit computer). Got an error message (see screenshot), so was unable to try out the new version. Would like, if possible to try the Ultimate version with VS 2013. Had tried a previous version of Amethyst 2 last year, with a VS Shell, but this was all removed from this computer. However, some residual files like logs still remain in the X86 Program Files Sapphire Steel folder. Any suggestions on installing this newly released Amethyst Ultimate version for VS 2013, to try it out?

Thank you for your help.

Best Wishes,

try deleting the directory if it exists

Also, you must run the installation with Administrator privs.

Hi,

OK: deleted the old directory, ran installer using elevated command prompt, was able to take a look at it in VS 2013 (since had previously run a trial last year, ultimate trial expired).

Much thanks.

Pasting my comment from the installation video:

The latest installer (amethyst_VS2010_2_1_0_1603) doens't seem to work with Visual Studio 2010 professional. The Setup.exe file doesn't do anything, and after running SetupAmethyst2010.msi instead, there are no Amethyst options in the "new project" menu, and no indication of errors. Additionally, trying to run the Amethyst project importer on a completely new and barebones Flashbuilder project fails 100% the time with some "file can not be found" error... but it doesn't say what file, even though everything in the .project and .actionscriptproperties files is explicitly listed.

Also, there seems to be no way to get a previous version of the installer from your website.

I hear this might be an incomplete installation, but I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Amethyst and the results are the same. Any ideas?

A couple of ideas ...

1) It might be a privilege issue.

All that setup.exe does is run the msi file via msiexec. If that isn't doing anything, it might be that you don't have admin privs. I don't think that running the msi file directly will work if you dont. You must use Can you confirm that you have admin privs?

If you do run the msi file it must be 'msiexec /i SetupAmethyst.msi'.

2) it did install but you installed it on a drive other than C:. If so, you need to move the templates.

You could also run the msi with logging and email us the log file ('msiexec /i SetupAmethyst.msi /log x.log').

Thanks for the follow up. I do have administrative privileges, but I also have Visual Studio installed in a drive other than C:

Where would I "move templates" from and to in this case?

I was eventually able to get the template options in VS2010. I had to uninstall VS and Amethyst all together and reinstall everything to C:\

I'm on the installing-SDK step now. I'll follow up if I have more issues. Thanks.
