I am evaluating Ruby In Steel 2.0 and I need the 'Add As Link' option that C# has. I need to build a project file that links to files in different folders but I cannot have them copied into the project.
This post talks about implementing it back in 2007.

Can this feature be added?

Thank you,
Ed.

Hi,

This feature exists but I think there's a bug ...

What should happen is ...

If you click on the a folder in the Solution Explorer and then right click 'Add' then 'Existing Item', browse to the item you want to add as a link, then from the 'Add' button, select the down arrow on the right, you should see 'Add as Link' in the drop down combo. Select that, and the item should be added as a link to the project and you should see a little link glyph on the item's glyph in the Solution Explorer.

However, I've just tried it and I think there's a problem with the MSBuild link item format in the project file.

The good news is that we're doing a bug fix release for RiS next week and we will fix it then.

So the answer is yes, RiS supports links - but not until next week!

We'll post an update here when it's done and you can try it out.

Hi,

We've fixed this in 2.2 - see the RiS 2.2 topic for the download link
