I just installed the Ruby in Steel Std using Visual Studio2008 plug in.  However, when I try to create a project (I want to create a rails project), I don't see any option to select Rails project.

Am I am missing any installation step?  Thanks for the response.

Are you sure you've downloaded the full commercial release of Ruby In Steel - not, for example, the IronRuby edition which doesn't do Rails?

You should have downloaded from this page: http://www.sapphiresteel.com/spip?page=download

What is the name of the download file (e.g. rubyinsteelde_allinone_2008.zip or rubyinsteelde_2008.zip or rubyinsteel_text_2008.zip)?

To create a Rails project you should select the File menu, New then Project. Select Ruby In Steel in the left-hand pane. In the right-hand pane select Rails Project.

What options are shown in the right-hand pane at this point?

Incidentally, I am assuming that you already have both Ruby and Rails installed prior to dfoing this. If this is not the case you should download our all-in-one installer and install the full range of software listed in the setup program.

best wishes

Thanks for the response.

I have installed Ruby In Steel All-in-One Installer (177 MB) as indicated in the previous response.

This morning, I have again tried to install with the same setup, and selected only the Ruby In Steel option.  I have all other things installed in my machine from the previous install and rails.

When it tried to repair Ruby insteel, now I am getting this message, and the installer reverses the install.

Exception occured while initializing installation.
System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assesbly
'file windows/system32/files/SaphileSteel or one of its dependencies...

Any help appreciated.  Thanks.

I'm afraid we would need to know a lot more about the state of your system in order to figure out this problem. I am not clear on whether you installed evereything (all options) from the All-in-one installer the first time around. If not, it may be that some required components have not been installed. Selecting 'repair' is not the way to fix this. I would strongly suggest that you uninstall Ruby In Steel from the Control Panel and do a new install using the Ruby In Steel Setup.exe (you must use this and not an msi) and leave all the default options selected. You must have a connection to the internet in order to download some features (elements of .NET and Rails if these are required). You should be sure you have admin privileeges when running the Setup.

If you still have problems, please mail us full details of your system by following the steps explained here:

best wishes
