Amethyst Global Options

These options may be set in Tools/Options/Projects and Solutions/Amethyst. They apply options to all future projects of Amethyst. Some options may be overridden on a project by project basis (see: Project Properties).

Flex

These are options relating to the Flex SDK, compilers and external tools

- AIR Launcher - the location of the AIR launcher relative to your Flex SDK directory (e.g. bin\adl.exe). This option should usually be left to the default.
- Component Compiler - the location of the component compiler relative to your Flex SDK directory (e.g. bin\compc.exe). This option should usually be left to the default.
- Flash IDE - the location of the Flash IDE (e.g. Flash CS4/CS5), if installed. This will be used if you wish to import or convert Flash IDE projects for shared development with Amethyst.
- Flash Player - the location of the Flash Player to be used when running or debugging Amethyst projects.
- MXML Compiler - the location of the MXML compiler relative to your Flex SDK directory (e.g. bin\mxmlc.exe). This option should usually be left to the default.
- SDK Path - the location of the default Flex SDK (e.g. C:\flex4_sdk). Multiple SDKs may be selected (use browse in the SDK path dialog). Select an SDK and click ’Set Default’ to make this the default for future projects. You may select SDKs on a project-by-project basis in the Application properties page of specific projects.
- Target Player - a version number to specify the default Flash Player compatibility compiler option (e.g. 10). This may be overridden in the Compiler properties of specific projects.
- Use Flash Player on launch - when true, the Flash Player will be used by default when running and debugging ActionScript or Flex applications. When false a web browser will be used.

Synchronization

These are options relating to the synchronization of files and folders in the Solution Explorer. When you right-click a project note and select ‘Synchronize’ the file and folder structure on disk will be used to update the display in the Solution Explorer using these options.

- Exclude Directories - an optional semicolon-delimited list of folder names to be omitted from synchronization ( e.g. bin-debug;history;generated;html;bin;config).
- Exclude Dot - when true, files and directories starting with a dot character (‘.’) will be omitted from synchronization
- Exclude Extensions - an optional semicolon-delimited list of file extensions to be omitted from synchronization ( e.g. .swf;.swc;.amproj;.suo;.sln;.bak;.vspscc;.vssscc;.log).
- Exclude Files With No Extension - when true, files with no extension will be omitted from synchronization
- Exclude Hidden Files and Folders - when true, files and directories with the Hidden attribute will be omitted from synchronization

Web Browsers

The web browsers to use when running or debugging Flash or Flex applications (unless you have chosen to use the Flash player - see Flex options above). You may switch to the secondary browser at any time using the Amethyst menu. The Launch Settings Project Properties page also allows you to choose to use a Flash Player instead of the browser.

- Web Browser (Primary) - the path to the default web browser.
- Web Browser (Secondary) - the path to the alternative web browser.
