Amethyst Designer Options
The Amethyst Designer is the Flex Design environment of the Amethyst IDE. You may set the following options...
Large Move Increment
Selected controls will be moved by this number of pixels if the Shift key is down when the arrow keys are pressed. Typically this is used to move controls by large increments.
Small Move Increment
Selected controls will be moved by this number of pixels when the arrow keys are pressed. Typically this is used to move controls by small increments (1 pixel is the default).
The size of the layout grid that will be displayed in the background of the Designer if the grid is On (Grid display may be toggled using the Amethyst Layout toolbar).
- Width: the grid width in pixels
- Height: the grid height in pixels
The Grid Style determines the appearance of the layout grid. This may be either dotted or solid.
If true, the layout grid will be displayed by default when the Designer is activated. Note that, in order to snap controls to the grid, the Snap to Grid option must be set to true. (Grid display may be toggled using the Amethyst Layout toolbar).
Show Layout Toolbar
If true, the Amethyst Layout Toolbar will be displayed by default when the Designer is activated. The Layout toolbar provides easy access to a range of Designer functions to align and resize controls and toggle common Designer options.
Snap To Alignment Bars
If true, interactive alignments bars will be shown when controls are moved or resized. These bars appear when the edges of the main selected control aligns with the edges of other controls in the Designer. The alignment bars are slightly ‘sticky’: they cause control edges to remain aligned with other controls for a few pixel movements of the mouse.
Note: Alignments bars may be used with or without ‘Snap To Grid’ activated. When activated, snap-to-grid alignment overrides the alignment bars so that selected controls will be snapped to the nearest grid line (if this is different from the alignment bar) when you release your mouse button.
Snap To Grid
If true, when you move or resize a control, its edges will snap to the nearest lines of the layout grid when the mouse button is released. When a control is moved, its top and left edges will be snapped to grid. When a control is resized, whichever edges are resized will snap to grid. (Snap To Grid may be toggled using the Amethyst Layout toolbar: options are snap to snap to grid or free for free movement with o snapping).
If set to true the Designer will output diagnostics when an internal Designer error occurs. Default is false. The diagnostic information is not meaningful to Amethyst users and this option should only be set to true on the advice of SapphireSteel Software support staff.
